Quick answer: Puffy eyes and dark circles usually come from a mix of short sleep, long screen time, salty food, rubbing the eyes and simple genetics. A few habits help most: better sleep, less rubbing and sun protection with sunglasses or a cap. For daily care, pat a small amount of Under Eye Care Cream under the eyes morning and night. It is made to help reduce the look of puffiness, brighten dark-looking under-eyes and moisturise the eye area.
Why the under-eye area shows tiredness first
The skin under the eyes is thinner than the rest of the face, so anything that affects it shows quickly. Common reasons we hear from customers:
- Short or broken sleep, especially with late-night phone use.
- Screens all day, which means less blinking and more squinting.
- Salty dinners, which can make you wake up with puffier eyes.
- Rubbing the eyes, often because of dust, allergies or tiredness.
- Family pattern. Some people simply have darker under-eyes, and it is normal.
- Sun and squinting in Sri Lanka's bright daylight.
When to see a doctor
See a doctor if only one eye is swollen, the swelling is sudden or painful, the eye is red, itchy or watery for days, or your vision changes. Also mention it if dark circles appear together with feeling very tired all the time. A cream is everyday cosmetic care and can't fix health reasons behind these changes.
The cream: Under Eye Care Cream
Our under-eye cream has Coffee Bean Extract, Almond Oil and Shea Butter, along with Ascorbic Acid, Bearberry Extract, Niacinamide, Pro-Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E. As printed on the tube, it:
- helps reduce the look of puffiness
- helps brighten dark-looking under-eyes
- moisturises the eye area
- Size: 50 g
- Price: Rs 1,990
- How often: twice a day, in the morning and before bedtime
How to apply it
- Cleanse your face and pat it dry.
- Take a very small amount, about the size of a grain of rice for both eyes.
- Use your ring finger, which presses the lightest, and gently pat the cream along the under-eye bone, from the inner corner outwards.
- Stay on the bone below the eye. Don't apply on the eyelid or too close to the lash line, and avoid direct contact with the eyes.
- Let it absorb before applying anything else.
In the morning, apply your sunscreen to the rest of the face after the eye cream has soaked in, keeping it away from the eyes. At night, apply the eye cream as the last step around the eyes. If you are building a full evening routine, our easy night routine shows where each step goes.
Habits that help
- Protect your sleep. Put the phone down a little earlier and try to keep a regular bedtime.
- Take screen breaks. Every so often, look away from the screen and blink a few times.
- Go easy on salt at dinner and drink enough water through the day.
- Stop rubbing. If your eyes itch often, find out why rather than rubbing harder.
- Use a cool compress in the morning, like a clean cloth dipped in cool water, for a minute or two.
- Wear sunglasses or a cap outdoors so you squint less in the bright sun.
Cautions
Patch test first on a small area, such as behind the ear or the inner arm, for 24 hours. Under Eye Care Cream is for external use only. Avoid direct contact with the eyes, stop if irritation occurs and keep it out of reach of children. The pack notes that small changes in colour, texture or scent may occur over time with natural ingredients, and these are normal.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use it on my eyelids?
We suggest keeping it to the under-eye area, as the pack describes, and away from direct contact with the eyes.
Can men use it?
Yes. Under-eye care is for anyone.
Will it remove dark circles completely?
No cream can promise that, especially when dark circles run in the family. It is made to help brighten dark-looking under-eyes and reduce the look of puffiness with regular use.
Can I use my face cream under the eyes instead?
Face creams and serums with strong actives are often not meant for the eye area. It is safer to use a product made for under the eyes.
