Dark Underarms, Neck, Knees and Inner Thighs: What Helps and What to Expect

One guide to uneven-looking dark areas: which product to use, how to use it, how long to give it, and when to see a doctor.

Secret Radiance Brightening Cream

Darker-looking underarms, neck, elbows, knees and inner thighs are very common. Friction, shaving, sweat and sun all play a part. Here is a short guide to what helps, with links to our detailed guides for each area.

Which product

Secret Radiance Brightening Cream is made for these areas, with Bearberry Extract, Niacinamide, Vitamin C and Licorice Root Extract. It is light and non-greasy, so it suits underarms and inner thighs in hot weather.

How to use it

  • Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin once or twice a day.
  • Let it settle before dressing.
  • Do not use it on broken, freshly shaved or irritated skin.

What to expect

Brightening is gradual. Most people notice softer, smoother skin first; a more even look takes regular use over several weeks. Compare photos in the same light rather than day to day. Cutting down friction and shaving irritation helps as much as any cream.

When to see a doctor

See a doctor if darkening appears suddenly, spreads quickly, or comes with velvety thickening of the skin, itching or pain. These can have medical causes that a cream will not treat.
